ADHD Coaching vs Therapy

Therapy often focuses on healing pain, dysfunction and relationship conflict arising from situations in the past.  The focus is on resolving these past difficulties to improve overall psychological functioning in the present.  ADHD Coaching is focused on identifying what the client wants in the here and now and how to achieve those goals. ADHD Coaching is future focused.  In coaching, we explore “who” the client is (their strengths, processing styles, behavior preferences, needs, values and unique brain wiring), identify what is getting in the way of achieving their goals and create new actions to move the client toward their desired outcome. This process involves experimenting with new ways of thinking, being and doing; knowing that not all solutions will work for all people and that some solutions will only work for a period of time before needing to be refreshed.
